Glacier Hiking
Comments are closed.
We start our journey early in the morning when we pick you up from your hotel and have a scenic drive (approx. 1 hour and 45 minutes) to the Lyngen Alps.
Our certified guide will provide a detailed briefing of the hike before starting.
This tour is rated as moderate, which means that you will walk on bumpy, uneven terrain and need to be able to walk around 6km (2-3hours walking) while gaining 500 vertical meters to a beautiful lake where we will have a break with lunch.
After recharging your batteries our guide will prepare you for the glacier walk! You will gear up with a harness, crampons, ice axe and helmet. Before heading on the glacier, the guide will attach everyone to a rope. Led by our trained glacier guide, you will walk on this ancient ice mass, pass by thrilling crevasses, blue sinkholes, and rugged ice ridges.
You will have photo stops along the way and the guide will tell you all about the geology of the area and the glacier itself, such as when and how it was formed, as well as other interesting facts. The glacier walk lasts about 2 hours. The condition on the ice may be blue ice, or ice with snow on the surface (this depends on the amount of snow we get in the winter).
After you have filled both your eyes and your camera with this natural beauty, you will walk back down to the starting point which takes about 2 hours.
